Composite Repair
Engineered composite repairs have matured into a key tool for managing the in-service integrity of pressurized components. TEAM remains at the heart of the development and standardization of this technology. Our current focus is on bringing reliability and traceability to repairs, controlling every step of the delivery process to give solutions that can be relied upon with confidence.
ASME PCC-2 and ISO 24817 set out the key requirements for the engineered repairs but they need expert assessment and understanding to ensure they are complied with. TEAM has been members of these committees and involved in the development of these standards since their inception and our processes have been built so that compliance can be assured. This has enabled us to secure Type Approvals from third parties such as ABS and Lloyds Register.
Our expertise ensures you get the repairs you are looking for, assessing each case to identify whether a composite repair or mechanical solution is best suited to the problem and ensure the right option is proposed. We can provide detailed analysis of challenging defects such as pipeline dents and cracking. Once in service, we can support through collation and assessment of inspection data.
To provide the best service, we make use of both in-house and third-party repair systems that comply with the qualification requirements of the reference standards. We run repair calculations through our own engineering teams but can also provide checking of third-party calculations where required. Our technicians are trained to apply systems used and their experience is tracked to enable us to verify their competence. Installation documentation is retained enabling us to re-validate repairs as fit for purpose in future.
TEAM is committed to extending the understanding of repair performance and actively support independent test programs as well as joint programs with operators to support solutions to specific problems. Our objective is to be your partner in integrity, from assessment, through selection and installation to management in service.

Safely Isolate and Localise Hydrostatic Testing
TEAM’s tools have a minimum standard rating of 25 psi back pressure. Once welding has completed, the same tool used for the isolation can then be repositioned to centre the annular testing cavity on the new weld, which provides a mechanism to perform a localised hydrostatic weld test on the new weld. Tool sizes can accommodate pipes ranging from 0.5′′ to 120′′ and test pressures up to 5,000 psi.
In addition to our internal isolation and weld testing tools, TEAM also provides external hydrostatic nozzle testing; no longer does a vessel need to be completely filled with water to perform a traditional hydro test on nozzle additions. TEAM’s nozzle testers allow for additions to be tested externally in a safe and cost-efficient manner with a minimal amount of water. This approach can save time and money from a shut down schedule by allowing other craft to work simultaneously inside of the vessel while testing is completed.

Team also offers online requests for Composite Repairs through TEAM Products and Services Portal.

Smart Shim is designed to achieve the resilience required to hold the conductor firmly in place, prevent damage in the guides, and provide sufficient absorption qualities necessary to avoid further shock damage.
SmartShim is an advanced-materials solution manufactured from a PVC-proofed nylon that features abrasive resistance and is ultrasonically welded for water-tightness. The SmartShim casing is filled with a specialist polyurethane resin, which reduces excessive conductor movement caused by wave action. Following design analysis, SmartShim casings are cast in-situ so that when filled they form to fit the exact dimensions of the gap between the conductor and guides.
The SmartShim technology tailors a product that fits perfectly, stays in place, and meets the wear resistance strength and elasticity requirements needed to provide an ideal, long-lasting solution.

- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) – Identifies surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials using magnetic fields.
- Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) – Reveals surface-breaking defects through the application of visible or fluorescent dye.
- Ultrasoinc Testing (UT) – Detects internal flaws and measures material thickness using sound waves.
- Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) – The sound waves are transmitted into the material, and any defects or discontinuities are detected by the returning echo.
- Eddy Current Testing (ECT) – Advanced method to identify surface and near-surface defects, corrosion, and material wear.
- Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Transducer – (EMAT) – is a non-contact ultrasonic testing method that generates sound waves directly within a material being inspected, without the need for a coupling agent (couplant), allowing for testing on rough or coated surfaces; essentially, it uses magnetic fields to create ultrasonic waves in the material under test.
- PAUT – Offers advanced imaging capabilities for more precise detection of flaws within complex structures.
- Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD Visual) – a highly precise ultrasonic testing method used to detect and measure flaws within welds by analyzing the diffraction of ultrasonic waves at the edges of a defect, essentially allowing for accurate sizing of defects with a single scan across the weld joint.
- Hardness and PMI – “hardness” refers to a test method that measures the resistance of a material to indentation, providing information about its mechanical properties like strength and wear resistance, while “PMI” stands for “Positive Material Identification,” a technique used to identify the exact chemical composition of a metal alloy by analyzing its elemental makeup, essentially verifying if the material used meets the required specifications.

Your in-situ valve testing solution
Trevitest™ is Team`s in-house safety valve in-situ testing, a method of measuring and indicating the lift point of a safety valve with no operational interruptions or down time on process.
A service first developed in 1979 Trevitest™ using custom developed chart recorders up to 1994 with the Mk6 generation progressing onto computer based custom software and hardware we are now 4 generations on with the MK9 and Mk10 system currently in service. With an accuracy within 0.5% well within the ASME standards we can test a range of safety relief valves from your conventional safety to torsion bars and with our in-house engineering team we can offer bespoke test rigs to perform tests on valves that may be deemed untestable in-situ.
The advantage of Trevitest™ in-situ testing over other testing devices is we can offer pre and post calibrations on site on the day of testing, this ensures that you are getting the most accurate test on the day. The equipment used to ensure Trevitest™ is calibrated to 0.5% accuracy is certified by a 3rd party UKAS approved testing house.
The result is a certifiable test showing any adjustments made allowing correctly performing valves to remain in service for longer periods, as well as fully documenting valves that do not meet the correct performance criteria by our experienced personnel so that they can be repaired or replaced as soon as possible – saving you time and money.
